Canines providing comfort in and around the Lehigh Valley
Lehigh Valley Therapy Dogs is a group of volunteers who share their certified/registered therapy dogs {which are their personal pets} with people in nursing homes, hospitals, schools and other institutions, in an effort to lift spirits. Each of our therapy dog teams have been tested and registered with Alliance of Therapy Dogs in Cheyenne Wyoming. Teams offer comfort and support to people experiencing stress, anxiety, sadness, loneliness, illness or other emotional challenges. Our members provide these visits at no cost to the individual or facility. Teams must do at least 1 visit each quarter to remain in good standing. A cold nose and soft fur are the perfect prescription for a smile. Sharing our dogs with the community brings joy and smiles not only to the individuals we visit but to the dog and handler as well.
Lehigh Valley Therapy Dogs have regular scheduled weekly or monthly visits as well as special requests received each month for one-time events, such as senior groups, girl/boy scouts, summer camps.
Our group does an annual fundraiser…a Drive-Thru Paw-sta Dinner on the first Saturday in November. This event is held at the Lehigh Lodge on Rt 100 in Macungie. Our members prepare a complete meal on the premises which includes a hearty serving of pasta, homemade sauce, meatballs, salad with dressing, bread and dessert. All orders for this event are submitted in advance. Don’t miss it!
